Jack Blakey

Musician and Teacher

Jack is an International trumpet, flugelhorn and piano player based in London. Having achieved an ATCL Performance Diploma while at school, Jack read music at Royal Holloway University of London where he received a BMus degree under trumpet tutelage from two of the country’s top players, jazz musician Martin Shaw, and freelance professional Simon Munday. While at university, Jack was principal trumpet of the Royal Holloway University of London Symphony Orchestra, who played alongside the London Mozart Players and the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the 2014 Magna Carta celebrations attended by the Queen.

Currently playing with many of the countries top bands including Jazz Trio Muted Affair, Latin Fusion band Naia, and singer songwriter Ewan J Phillips, Jack has played in many of the country’s top jazz clubs and bars including the Pizza Express Live venue, ‘The Pheasantry’ in Chelsea, ‘Spice of Life’ in Soho, The Natual History Museum, and The Royal Academy of Arts among others.

Jack also regularly performs internationally, and has recently been heard in locations such as Geneva, Zurich and New York City.

In addition to jazz and popular music, Jack also works within the Classical genre and has played in venues such as the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Albert Hall.

Jack also remains busy as a teacher, teaching the trumpet, piano, and music theory at Radnor House and Notre Dame Schools, as well as being the founder or the ‘Jacktice and Friends’ practice supervision service.
